Self Catering Accommodation in Sussex

Places to visit while staying at a holiday cottage in Wiltshire.

Hastings is a place famous for its Medieval Battle which actually took place on Senlec Hill. This is a great place to visit with a range of attractions from its Norman castle to a miniature railway. It has family amusements and fairground rides as well as the Victorian Pier, and lots of fishing related shops and restaurants due to the fact that Hastings still has the largest beach based fishing fleet in the UK. Further along the coast is quiet Eastbourne which has some of the best beaches and sunshine in the UK as well as brilliant floral displays and the Carpet Gardens.

Brighton is the most busy and trendy city in Sussex providing plenty of opportunity for entertainment with its great number of bars, pubs and restaurants as well as a number of nightclubs and the Pavilion. You will be assured a wonderful time exploring its many little shops and boutiques as well as the lively atmosphere of the central town. Brighton is a large place with many attractions including the Fishing Museum, the Mechanical Memories Museum, the Aquarium and Sea Life Centre. Some of the best places to eat in Brighton include Al Fornos, Bardleys Fish and Chip Shop, Café Rouge, Mad Hatter Café, the new Stein Bistro, or Al Duomo's.

The world famous Bognor Regis (the best place in the county), is a family resort and the home of Butlins which is just jam packed with stuff to do and kids love it. The beach however, is the main attraction, jet skiing and sailing are activities which are available in the summer along with beautiful walks towards the west of Bognor in the Bay Estate and Pagham Lagoon. The annual birdman is a great entertainment and not to be missed, where grown men jump off the pier fully dressed in unique costumes and contraptions, usually on the 9th of September.

Other places that are exciting to visit in Sussex include Arundel Castle and Cathedral, the museum at Amberly, Chichester Harbour and Festival Theatre, Highdown Hill near Worthing which contains gardens, Littlehampton Marina, Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre and the Oyster Pond Boat Lake. Some of the best places to eat in the county include The Roundstone Pub near Worthing, The Walnut Tree on Vinetrough Road near Runcton and the Oyster Catcher on the road between Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

The railway connects all of the South Coast towns in almost a straight line going from East to West. From London Victoria there are trains every hour to Brighton in East Sussex and Barnham and Bognor Regis in West Sussex. The following towns have tourist information centres: Worthing, Arundel, Bognor Regis, Brighton, Chichester, Crawley, Eastbourne, Hastings, Midhurst and Littlehampton.

Sussex is a fantastic place to visit for all ages!
