New ferry port for Portsmouth

A new continental ferry terminal at Portsmouth has been given the go ahead by the city's council.

The £15 million terminal is scheduled to be completed in late 2010 and operational by Spring 2011.

The new terminal will be situated to the east of the existing terminal building, where Port terminal sheds currently reside.

The Port is consulting with The Carbon Trust on environmental aspects of the new terminal.

Portsmouth Ferry Port manager Phil Gadd said: "This will be a much needed, landmark building at the Port and we are keen to ensure it incorporates the latest environmental technology to future proof it for ferry passengers and our customers alike." By Bev Fearis Travel Mole website.
