Owner's Description

Antonine Wall Cottages are two sumptuous properties converted from a listed 1820s stable block in 2004. The cottages are situated in 5 acres of private gardens and woodlands. Uniquely, the 2000 year old Antonine Wall runs directly through the grounds.

Just next door is the Historic Scotland site of Rough Castle, the best preserved Roman fort on the Wall and well worth exploring. Walking on a little further along the Antonine Wall through newly established woodland paths will bring to you the Falkirk Wheel, the only rotating boat lift in the world and a wonderful day out. Cycling along the nearby canal towpaths is a popular choice, as is visiting historic Callendar House in nearby Falkirk, a town famous for its shopping opportunities.

We have a lovely play area for children with a giant trampoline, swings, slide, climbing ropes and sandpits, and there are also picnic benches for you to sit on and barbeques to borrow. There is also a fabulous entertainment area with luxury hot tub, bar, swimming pool and outdoor sauna.

Family pets can usually be accommodated by prior arrangement.

Each luxury cottage sleeps 4 to 6 people in two bedrooms, one with a four poster bed or a feature bed. They are exceptionally well furnished and equipped to a high standard. Kitchens are fully fitted with a host of stainless steel appliances including dishwashers and washing machines/tumble dryers. The double-height living areas have comfortable sofas and a wide selection of DVDs, videos and books for you to enjoy. One cottage is fully wheel-chair accessible.

There are 2 double bedrooms in Hayloft and a double sofa bed for alternative sleeping arrangements. Doocot has a double and a triple bedroom with 3 single beds and there is also a very comfortable sofa-bed for 2 in the conservatory .We can convert the twin bedded room in Doocot to a super king bed if required. All beds have orthopaedic mattresses and good quality bed linens.

Doocot cottage is a bit bigger than Hayloft and is ideal for families with children as it overlooks the play area and woods. Doocot also has a lovely conservatory with floor to ceiling windows to take full advantage of the lovely views. Hayloft is perfect for one or two couples or a small family, nature lovers will like it as it overlooks a wood filled with squirrels and birds.

Antonine Wall Cottages are ideally situated, being only 30 minutes by car or train from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. Alternatively you can visit Stirling with its Castle and the Wallace Monument, the Trossachs, Loch Lomond, St Andrews, Perth or New Lanark all within one hours drive.

* Babysitting
Babysitting in your own cottage perhaps when you have dinner in the Glenskirlie (best restaurant in Scotland 2003 and 2005, 10 minutes drive from our cottages) @ £5 per hour .
Babysitting in our house when you enjoy an adult day in Edinburgh or Glasgow for example @ £5 per hour per child to include all meals.
All babysitting will be supervised by myself and I have an advanced disclosure from Disclosure Scotland through working in local playgroups - I also have 4 children of my own! Babysitting must be booked in advance.

* Dog sitting
We are happy to dog sit for you while you enjoy a canine free day in Edinburgh or Glasgow or want to undertake a long drive up North perhaps .
We don't charge for a couple of hours however all day dog sitting will attract a nominal charge of £10. Dogs left with us must be very friendly and excellent with children.

* Daily Breakfast Packs @ £6 per person per day (min 4 persons)
