Its location offers wonderful views over the Clun Valley. This traditional stone building has been renovated, using local materials where possible, both to retain its traditional characteristics and to accommodate eco-friendly design principles including a wind generator, solar hot water panels and a high-efficiency wood burning stove. The result of these environmental features means that the building requires almost no external energy inputs resulting in a massively reduced carbon output. We hope Mother Nature looks after you as well as it looks after us!

Owner's Description

The cottage provides comfortable holiday accommodation for up to 4 people with a double and twin room. The kitchen is equipped with a gas cooker, fridge and the heating is provided by the wood-burning stove and/or storage heaters powered by the wind turbine. Hot is made available through the solar panels. Relevant reading is available in the cottage including organic publications and natural history books on a range of wildlife.

The cottage has its own sheltered garden and patio. Organic vegetables are grown in the garden and are available for use by the guests.

Other environmentally friendly measures include:

The use of sheep's wool insulation, energy efficient light bulbs and 'A' energy efficient rating appliances. All windows are double-glazed.
Recycling bins for glass, paper, plastics and cans as well as a compost bin.
A control system in the toilets to minimise water consumption. A water butt ensures that rainwater can be used for washing wellies, boots, etc and watering any plants in the adjacent garden.

Other Information

Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. Also, short breaks when available. Guests are asked to vacate the cottage by 10am on the day of departure and not to arrive before 4pm, unless by arrangement.
