Location
The fully restored property nestles in 20 acres of woods and wonderful walks on the hillside high above the historic village of Clun. Located in the first 'environmentally sensitive area' and designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The countryside commission recent survey designated this to be one of the three remaining havens of tranquility in Britain.
Owner's Description
The cottage is spacious and comfortable with hall, cloakroom, utility, large sitting room, bedroom with giant double or two single beds, dressing area.
Large bathroom with separate power shower, fully fitted kitchen. Full oil powered central heating, log fire (fuel provided), double-glazing, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble drier, Linn hi-fi for radio and CDs, colour television, video, DVD and telephone.
South facing sheltered terrace area with picnic table, oak bench and sun bathing easy chairs.
Linen: Bed Linen and towels are provided. A flannel, hand towel, towel, bath sheet, and dressing gown are supplied for each guest. Guests also receive soap, shampoo, bath salts or gel.
Maid Service: Usually available by prior arrangement. Please ask for details, service cleans are complimentary for stays of 8 days or more.
Cleaning: The cottage is fully cleaned and serviced between bookings but, as the cleaners time is often limited during busy periods, we would kindly ask you to leave the cottage as clean and tidy as you found it.
Shops: The nearest shops and post office are in Clun (1 mile) Butchers, Groceries, newsagent, gift shops, general store, antique shops, art gallery, museum.
Eating Out: There is an excellent wide range of Pubs and Restaurants to suit every pocket and taste. Nearest meals available in Clun (1 mile) Choice of three Pubs, one with separate restaurant and three Cafes. Good Food Guide/ Michelin Star Restaurants within 20 minutes drive. Full list in Cottage. One of the best restaurants in the world is in Ludlow.
Countryside: Please bear in mind that countryside activity and animals can be noisy (and smelly!) at times - so if you are a confirmed "townie" be warned!
Transport: A car is really essential as we are in a remote location.
Car Parking: Private area adjacent to cottage.
Access: Please note we have a steep gravel driveway and there are steps to reach the cottage, which is, then all on one level.
Telephone: The cottage has its own pay telephone (the number is 01588 640942) calls cost from 20p. There is also a telephone connected to the main house/mobile in case of emergencies.
Water: We have our own private deep well and the water is tested for purity.
Utility Bills: No hidden extras for heating, oil, electricity or fire logs.

From centre of CLUN go south over the narrow hump-back bridge and straight on towards the Church
Follow the A488 towards KNIGHTON for 1 mile
COCKFORD HALL is high up on the right hand side.
Look out for a red warning triangle (Slow Horses!) on the left, and a green COCKFORD HALL sign
Take the farm track opposite then the gate on the right up drive to house.
THE DICK TURPIN COTTAGE is just to the left of the main house. Please park in the space next to the steps up to the Cottage.
WARNING - We have a very steep gravel drive and it is easier if you can maintain a steady speed all the way up without stopping.
MOTORWAY ROUTE LONDON TO CLUN, SHROPSHIRE - 170 MILES
From Marble Arch follow signs "The West A40" for 17 miles A40 runs straight into M40. Follow signs for BIRMINGHAM.
At Junction 10 65 miles from London is CHERWELL VALLEY SERVICE AREA.
At 90 miles from London is WARWICK SERVICE AREA.
At Junction 15 Go Forward signposted The North/Birmingham.
Go past Junction 16 Forward signposted SOUTH WEST.
Road is now M42. Go Forward past Junction 1 (118 miles) then keep on left to Junction 4A to join M5.
Follow signs to M5 NORTH WEST (119miles)
Leave M5 at next junction 4 Signposted STOURBRIDGE A491
At HAGLEY Roundabout (128 miles) turn left on to A456 Follow signs to KIDDERMINSTER.
At KIDDERMINSTER take Ring Road A456 Signposted LEOMINSTER
Follow A456 BEWDLEY Bypass
Keep on A456 past CALLOW HILL then turn right on to A4117 signposted CLEOBURY MORTIMER
Go towards LUDLOW on A4117 through Cleobury Mortimer
At Junction with A49 turn right signposted SHREWSBURY (154 miles)
Keep on A49 to CRAVEN ARMS (162 miles) then turn left take B4368 signposted CLUN
At CLUN (169 miles) go over bridge signposted KNIGHTON
Follow A488 towards KNIGHTON for 1 mile
COCKFORD HALL is on the right hand side. Look out for a red Horse warning triangle on the left. Take the farm track opposite then gate on right up drive to house.

If not previously booked for the full week the cottage is available for short breaks. Please check for availability as short break bookings are only taken close to the required date. The price relates to the appropriate weekly charge as follows:
