Set at the terminal station of the long-closed Hexham to Allendale Railway, the Station House Flat is in the lovely Allen Valleys in beautiful surroundings.

Owner's Description

Station House Flat offers 4-star self-catering holiday accommodation. The flat was formed out of the public rooms (waiting room, ladies waiting room and ticket office) of Allendale Railway Station.

The accommodation was fully refurbished to a high standard in 2007, and now offers two bedrooms and an open-plan living area. The refurbishment was carried out with those of limited mobility in mind.

Visitors to the flat are welcome to share use of a small on-site laundry with visitors to the caravan park (domestic washing machine & tumble drier).

Four people are normally accommodated, but up to two additional visitors can stay using a sofa-bed in the living room. A high-chair and wooden cot can be provided if required.

Bed-linen and tea-towels are provided. Heating is by storage heaters & wood-burning stove. Electricity and firewood are included.

Secure cycle storage in a lockable shed will be available from March 2008.

* 1.2m wide glass shower cubicle with electric shower

Things You Need To Know

The flat refurbishment work has been assessed to National Accessible Scheme M1 (some M2 criteria are also met).

Access to the flat is on level road planings from the car park area.
A parking place can be reserved close to the flat on request.
There is a 7 cm threshold on the entrance door, a step of 15 cm from the porch to the open plan living/dining/kitchen and a 20 cm step to one of the bedrooms.

There are grab rails in the shower room and a fold-out shower seat.

Due to drain levels, despite the best efforts of our plumber, the step into the shower is 235 mm, rather than the desired 190 mm. We aim to provide a subsidiary step. We have provided an additional grab rail above the M1 provision at this point.

We can provide a high char and wooden cot for your baby, please request at the time of the booking. There is a extra fee of £10 per week. Please note that bed linen for cot is not provided.

Use of sofa bed(more than 4 people) is additional £25 per week.
