Location

The Retreat is ideally located on Aviemore's main street within easy walking distance of the many restaurants, bars and amenities which Aviemore has to offer. There is a very convenient food store only seconds' walk away for day-to-day provisions. For a wider selection of groceries etc. there is a large supermarket less than half a mile away.

Owner's Description

The Retreat was completely refurbished to a high standard throughout in April 2006. The bedroom has a king size bed. The lounge is newly furnished and has a flat screen TV, video, DVD and mini hi-fi. A sizeable free video library is available from the main Strathspey House. The newly fitted kitchen is well equipped for self catering with electric cooker/hob, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine and microwave. Weekly rates are inclusive of electricity. Bed linen, duvets and towels provided.

Things You Need To Know

There are numerous hill walking routes, local nature reserves for bird watching and the fascinating Loch Garten Osprey Centre. Follow the world famous Malt Whisky Distillery Trail or choose from 8 golf courses within a 15 mile radius including the new championship course of Spey Valley.

Nearby visitor attractions include Highland Folk Museums, Landmark Forest Theme Park, Highland Wildlife Park, Cairngorms Reindeer Centre, Sled Dog Adventure Centre, Strathspey Speam Railway, Waltzing Waters and the Jacobite ruins of Ruthven Barracks.

Inverness with all the facilities a city has to offer is only 30 minutes drive away.

The Retreat has the added attraction and flexibility of full catering facilities within a central village location. The proprietors, Glenn and Fiona, are close at hand and would be delighted to share their local knowledge to make the most of your stay.

From Aviemore Tourist Information Centre, travel north along the main street, passing all the shops and the church on the right hand side. Strathspey House is located on the right shortly after the War Memorial. It's a 5-10 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. Private parking via the side road, Kinveachy Gardens.

Getting There by Railway
Aviemore Railway Station is on the Inverness - Perth/Edinburgh/Glasgow line. From the station, walk north along the main street 5-10 minutes. Strathspey House is on the same side of the main street a the station. Alternatively, there is a taxi service stance outside the railway station - taxi journey time 2 minutes.

Getting there by Aeroplane
From Inverness Airport, take the A9 south to Aviemore - distance of 30 miles, about 40 minutes drive. Strathspey House is located on the main street to the north end of the viallge, private parking accessed via the side road, Kinveachy Gardens.

For larger airports, Glasgow and Edinburgh are 150 and 125 miles away respectively. Car journey times north to Aviemore less than 3 hours from Glasgow and 2 hours from Edinburgh.
