Kirkwood is a farm in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway, an idyllic, unspoilt lowland Scottish county with rolling hills, oak woods and lush pastures. Your holiday at Kirkwood is enhanced by the farm's natural beauty, the peace and quiet, the walks and the River Annan's fishing.

There are seven holiday cottages at Kirkwood - forming an ideal base for a rural holiday. For walking, fishing, golfing, cycling, horse riding, for wildlife and for peace and quiet.

A holiday at Kirkwood is perfect at any time of the year. Enjoy balmy summer evenings by the river with a glass of wine. Explore our woodland walks on a crisp winter's morning. In spring wildlife abounds and is a joy to behold. Enjoy the peace and quiet whilst fishing for salmon in autumn.

Owner's Description

Hare Cottage was converted in 1998 from an old barn into a beautiful holiday home. Situated in the Stables Courtyard it is close to the facilities that are found there including the laundry, games room and children's play area.

Downstairs in Hare Cottage you'll find a comfortable double bedroom next to a large shower room with WC and basin. Also downstairs is the open plan living area with it's fully equipped kitchen. After dinner you can enjoy a board game or two at the dining table or relax on the comfortable sofas in front of your favourite television programme or video. This cottage is also equipped with a dishwasher, CD player and a hairdryer.

As with our other cottages, heating is by way of electric storage heaters with an immersion heater for the water. Upstairs is a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with bath, shower over, WC and basin. There is also a charming single bedroom that shares the shower room downstairs.

Things You Need To Know

The beds will be made up with one sheet, a duvet and two pillows each. There are spare blankets. We do not supply bath or hand towels but extra towels can be hired.

Pets are allowed, but please araange prior the arrival.

Leave the M74 (London/Glasgow road) at Ecclefechan and take B725 signed to Dalton (6 miles away). This joins another road and crosses the river then turns sharp RIGHT - still for Dalton on B725.

Pass through Dalton heading towards Lockerbie. After half a mile turn RIGHT for Lockerbie. After another half mile (up a straight hill) West Lodge is the stone cottage on the RIGHT. Turn in here for the Stables Courtyard too, going 500m then turning RIGHT (top of hill). The Stables is 300m further down this track. Hare cottage is first on the left on entering the Courtyard (with light green window surrounds), while Red Squirrel Cottage is the farthest on the left (with dark blue windows). Otter Cottage (dark green windows) is on the far side of the square and Roe Deer Cottage (dark blue windows) is the first on the right. Fox Cottage is the light blue door farthest away.

Short breaks, available at the last minute, run from Sunday to Thursday (priced at 66% of the price per week) or Thursday to Sunday (priced at 75% of the price per week).
