Although small, the cottage is ideal for families with up to 2 children, or couples who want a relaxing holiday near the coast. Walkers will love the area. We have a few books/maps on the local area.
The kitchen and bathroom are both newly fitted. The lounge has a beamed ceiling and lots of horse brasses!
Location
Chalkdell Cottage is situated in a terrace of Grade II listed dwellings built of stone by local quarrymen, originally for their own use. It is in the Herston Conservation area, which is one of the oldest parts of Swanage and is believed to be around 200 years old.
The beach, town and coast path are all within easy reach of the cottage - approximately 1 mile. Within a few minutes walk are two convenience stores, a fish and chip shop, an Indian restaurant and 2 pubs. There is also a bus stop nearby for Corfe Castle, Wareham, Poole and Bournemouth. Monkey World, Lulworth Cove, Studland beach and Shell Bay are also near and are well worth a visit.

The accommodation has recently been refurbished to include central heating - very cosy for winter lets.The cottage consists of a small but cosy lounge with 3 seater sofa and chair, gateleg dining table, colour TV /DVD combi (with some digital stations) a video player/recorder and a radio/cassette player.
There are books videos and a few DVDs for you to use. The split-level kitchen is very well equipped with ceramic hob, built in cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, slow cooker and toaster etc.
The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a shower attachment over the bath. The stairs lead up to the main bedroom with comfortable double bed, pine wardrobe and chest of drawers, then through to the smaller children's room with bunk beds, pine 3 drawer chest and ample storage room in the 2 wardrobe cupboards.
There are some toys and games in the cupboards of the smaller room and a CD player and a selection of easy listening CD's in the double bedroom. All the beds have duvets / pillows. Bed linen is provided for all beds free of charge. Towels may be hired - save the room in your suitcase!
Outside is a small, south facing patio garden with picnic table and bench and a shed with a few more toys, buckets, spades etc. Parking close to the cottage is usually good - there is plenty of parking in the quiet roads near the cottage. From the front windows of the cottage are beautiful views across grazing land to the Purbeck Hills. Walk across the footpaths and fields and you will find Herston Halt, which is a tiny station on the Swanage Steam railway line whre you can hail the steam trains.
