The six cottages have been lovingly restored from a collection of Period Granite Barns built originally as a Model Farm in 1900.
Each is named after a nearby Tor and has been converted to combine the unique character of the buildings with the demands of a discerning 21st century family.
At Holwell Farm Cottages you can find large, luxury, 5 star farmhouse, self-catering, holiday cottages, (sleeping 6, 8 and 10 people), located in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, South Devon.
Holwell is Dartmoor's most prestigious collection of quality Holiday Cottages on a working farm in an utterly stunning location between the famous land marks of Haytor and Widecombe in the Moor.
Each cottage includes:

The living accommodation of each cottage is laid out in open plan form to ensure maximum feeling of space, light, views and that no one is feeling left out of it in the kitchen!
All guests of the lower cottages benefit from the direct use of Holywell Field, directly below the yard and accessible from the rear of the cottages. Naturally landscaped, Dartmoor is brought right to your doorstep with magnificent granite boulders dotted about, enclosed by dry stone walls and surrounded by the most spectacular views and scenery. On one boundary of the field is a copse filled with wild flowers and on the other is the start of the ancient sunken green lane.
Guests have exclusive access to the majority of the 400 acre Holwell estate and maps will clearly indicate where this access is available. The map also highlights walks, places of interest, wildlife habitat, areas of historical and archeological importance together with suggested spots for picnics, a spot of fishing or a paddle in the Becka Brook. There is also designated areas for bbqs.
Holwell is a working farm and it should be borne in mind that yes, the cockerels do wake you up nice and early and there is sometimes a nice rustic aroma, particularly when Sebastian is muck spreading in the top fields. As many of you will have observed up to date, we are not advocates of the "Nanny State" for written and obvious warnings, we rely on common sense to prevail !
Animals on the farm include pedigree Saddleback Pigs, Galloway Cattle, Dartmoor Ponies, Horses, Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Doves, Guinea Fowl, Dogs; not all are free range however!, but if you are bringing dogs and or children, please ensure they are appropriately behaved with these animals!
It may interest you to know that Holwell has been and is the subject of a Television Series which was made for Regional ITV Westcountry and Discovery channels. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU KEEP THESE DIRECTIONS WITH YOU AND IF COMING AT NIGHT, YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED NOT TO DEVIATE FROM THIS ROUTE!
Exit A38 at Drumbridges Roundabout for Trago Mills, Bovey Tracey
Proceed towards Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead at exit roundabout
Go through Traffic Lights and on to next roundabout
Go straight ahead down Monks Way
towards Town Centre and Moretonhamptead
At next roundabout there is a stone monument in the middle; PLEASE CHECK YOUR MILEOMETER AT THIS POINT
Take the first exit left on the B3387 towards Hay Tor and Widecombe
One third of a mile on the road will fork; take the left turn, still on the B3387 to Hay Tor
Keep on this road up the hill. Approx. 3 miles from the previous roundabout you will see a phone box on your left as you approach Hay Tor itself on the right. Keep going up the hill.
At the top of the hill, which will then be 5 miles from the Stone Monument Roundabout in Bovey Tracey , the Ashburton road will come in from the left and you will go over the Hemsworthy Gate Cattle Grid.
Keep on the main Widecombe road for a further half mile and take the turning on your right signposted Hound Tor, Manaton, Chagford and Moretonhampstead.
(If you arrive in Widecombe itself, you have gone past the turning; come back up the hill)
Half a mile on this road you will turn right into the Holwell Drive.
If you end up at another cattle grid on the main road you will have gone too far and missed the entrance; COME BACK!
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE DRIVE ENTRANCE IS SET BACK FROM THE ROAD AND IT IS NOT IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE. THERE IS A CATTLE GRID AND GATE WITH "HOLWELL" WRITTEN ON IT.

Dogs, children and horses welcome, please advise when booking.
Dogs are very welcome at £25.00 per week. Dogs not permitted in public rooms and any damage caused to cottages will be charged for. Stables are available at Holne Chase at £25.00 per day DIY livery, £100 per week DIY at Holwell or Grass Keep at Holwell at £25.00 per week.
