Fern Cottage is a fantastic property with an open plan living/dining area, oak staircase and exposed oak and stone lintels giving the place warmth and character; with stone floor downstairs (underfloor heating) and solid oak flooring on the first floor.

Fernyford is a great place to get a feel of what life is like on a working farm. We run Swaledale sheep and Belted Galloway cattle. Farming never stops! So there's always something to see.
Fern Cottage offers a perfect balance between being able to completely unwind, or, if you prefer, getting involved with the day to day life of a working farm!
We will be happy to offer our guests the opportunity to experience seeing the livestock on the farm, the different farming operations throughout the year and to taste quality meat produced on the holding.

Fern Cottage is perfect for walking, cycling, bird watching and the many attractions of the Peak District including Chatsworth House and Alton Towers.

Owner's Description

You enter the accommodation into the open plan dining and lounge area with large glazed windows/doors (lots of natural light) taking in views of the central farmyard. Fern Cottage is a fantastic property with oak staircase and exposed oak and stone lintels giving the place warmth and character. There is stone floor downstairs but do not worry your feet will not get cold ... there is under floor heating and a fire place (cast iron electric stove) in the living room.

There is bathroom upstairs with shower and under floor heating.

Fernyford is an upland stock farm with the emphasis being the production of top quality breeding stock. We run Swaledale sheep and Belted Galloway cattle, which are extensively reared by traditional husbandry methods, on land managed in an environmentally sensitive way, protecting habitats and landscape features.
We converted one of the old stone buildings to provide facilities for processing and packaging meat products produce on the holding. Swaledale and Belted Galloways are perfectly suited to turning rough hill pasture into the finest quality meat. Farm produce is available.
