Owner's Description

Rockwood is a picturesque and spacious 6 bedroom holiday cottage. Built around 1900, it is a traditional stone built Cumbrian residence, carved into the very rock of the hill behind the house.

It lies along a very quiet country lane on the quiet side of the pretty village of Grasmere in the lee of spectacular Helm Crag, locally known as the Lion and the Lamb . With its 6 bedrooms, Rockwood is one of the largest holiday houses in the area, and accommodates 10 adults and 2 children in comfort.

In the self contained annexe, which affords privacy for those who may want it, two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, so useful for those who may not manage the stairs in the main house.

Rockwood provides everything you need for the larger family group - space, comfort, affordability ...and an amazing location!!!

Things You Need To Know

Pets welcome by prior arrangement; subject to £10/pet cleaning charge.

There is no garden at Rockwood. The house is on a very quiet lane, surrounded by countryside and only 2 minutes from wide open spaces.

Due to fire regulations, the maximum number of adults at Rockwood is 10, plus two children under 16. I'm afraid we cannot make any exceptions.

The driveway at Rockwood is long and narrow, with the house on one side and a rock face on the other. The driveway will only take 3 medium sized cars in a line; there is no other parking nearby. The lane outside the house is too narrow, as a milk lorry passes by each day to the local farm, and the National Trust houses opposite will clamp you if you park there! The nearest public parking is in Grasmere and is expensive.
