For those seeking an activity holiday/break there is ample scope for strenuous walks on the fells or a stroll by the river, many may be taken right from the cottage door.
Cyclists may explore the Pennine and Cumbria cycle ways, which pass by our gate. Some of the best game fishing in England is offered on the River Eden and nearby there are fishing lakes. Golfers will enjoy the challenges offered by the local courses (Appleby; Penrith) and those a little farther afield, Keswick and Silloth.

Milburn Grange holiday cottages lie directly below the Pennines, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and enjoy views of the Lake District Fells. Our holiday cottages offer a high standard of accommodation and are open all year.

This particularly cosy cottage offers sleeping accommodation in two bedrooms, one double and one twin (3' bunk beds, suitable for adults), and is equipped to accommodate 2 to 4 people.
A cot and highchair are available if required.

Things You Need To Know
All our holiday cottages are for year-round use and are provided with background heating via night storage heater.
Beds have duvets and we provide all bed linen, towels and tea towels. Beds are made up for your arrival. We do not provide bedding for cots.
There is a shared utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, iron and payphone. This room acts as a Visitor Information centre and carries a wealth of information to enable you to make the most of your stay in the Lake District. In addition, a Pool table, for guest use, is located in this room.
In the gardens you will find picnic tables, two BBQs (one gas) and outdoor drying facilities.
There is an Adventure Playground for children away from the cottages.
Z-beds are available for one additional guest per cottage (Fell, Helm, Brambles and Studio only).
Cots may be accommodated in Brambles, Fell, Helm and Stable Cottages subject to total number of guests in the cottage.
There is ample off-road/on-site parking in the farmyard.
Bicycles: We have ample storage space (lockable).
Telephone: There is a payphone for use of guests
Coal: Available locally in small plastic sacks.
Directions
View MapIf approaching from the A1, exit at Scotch Corner and take the A66 West to Appleby. Bypass Appleby and travel a couple of miles to Kirkby Thore. Turn right at the Bridge End Inn. The road is signposted Knock, Milburn and Dufton. After approximately 2 miles you will approach a 'T' junction.
Turn left and almost immediately right into a narrow lane. Continue down the lane to a sharp right-hand then left-hand bend then, after a few yards, across a large field to your left, you will see Milburn Grange Holiday Cottages. The road bends left, down a hill to a junction opposite a bungalow (where the lane bends sharply to the right).
The entrance to Milburn Grange is straight ahead on the left.
If approaching via the M6 you could exit at Junction 38 (Tebay) and take the B6260 and join the A66 at Appleby. Alternatively you could leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith), take the A66 towards Appleby and Scotch Corner, turning off (Left at the Inn) at Kirkby Thore (about 8 miles).
Other Information
Any requirement for cots and highchairs or z-beds must be notified when booking. No charge is made for cots or highchairs but we ask parents to provide bedding for the infant. A charge of £25 is made for each Z-bed (including bedding), this is added to the booking price.
