Things You'll Love

Lovingly restored, Rooky's Nook offers traditional charm (exposed beams, slate floor, rough cast walls, large inglenook fireplace) with modern convenience, in a truly romantic setting.
It is totally detached, - not part of any holiday cottage complex - totally independant - managed and run by the owner - and totally unique!
The private sunny patio, set within its own beautiful garden, offers an ideal place to relax and unwind, in a secluded location, close to fantastic beaches yet deep in the Cornish countryside.

Location

Rooky's Nook is located in the heart of the rural hamlet of Trewalder, on the north coast of Cornwall. Local shops, restaurants and pubs can be found either 1 mile away in St Teath, approximately 5 miles away in Port Isaac, Tintagel or Camelford, or 11 miles away in Wadebridge or Bodmin . The capital city of Truro, with its cathedral and shopping centre is easily reached by car. The closest beach is Trebarwith Strand, with a great sandy beach (when the tide's out), and fantastic walks along coastal footpaths (when the tide's in).

Owner's Description

Cosy sitting/dining room with open log fire
After enjoying a breath-taking walk along one of the coastal paths, curl up on one of the sofas in front of a cosy log fire and either watch the TV or DVD, listen to the radio or play your favourite CDs on the radio/CD player. Eventually retire to bed up the open-plan wooden stairs to the galleried bedroom and en-suite bathroom. What better way to enjoy your holiday - in a truly special place - in Cornwall!
Galleried double bedroom
This beautifully appointed room with its kingsize bed is another ideal place to snuggle up. Feeling really lazy? - you can also watch TV in bed! Even though banisters run down one side of the room by the open-plan stairs, you still have all the privacy you need in your own little Cornish holiday cottage hideaway.

Well-equipped kitchen
The lime-washed oak units provide a fun place to cook whether you use the electric oven to rustle up a roast dinner or just microwave your favourite meal. The large fridge-freezer gives you the option of minimising your shopping trips, and the dishwasher takes away the strain of washing-up! Alternatively, just open the stable door and chill out with a drink on the patio.
Private patio and large rear garden
In the summer, why not dine al fresco and enjoy a barbeque on the patio? Fresh fish from Port Isaac's daily fish market, or speciality sausages or chops from the local butcher in St Teath or Camelford are also to be recommended! Alternatively enjoy a freshly baked Cornish pasty from Tintagel. The large garden at the back of Rooky's Nook also offers a great place to relax - with your favourite book, or glass of wine on a sun lounger.

Come and enjoy peace and quiet - wake up to bird song, and star gaze at night (there are no local street lights to 'contaminate' the night sky!)

Directions

Map View Map

Follow the A30 towards Launceston. After by-passing Launceston, at Kennards House, take the A395 signed for North Cornwall and Camelford.

Follow this road approximately 15 miles until reaching a T-junction with the A39. Turn left onto the A39 towards Camelford and Wadebridge.

Drive through Camelford town centre, still on the A39 and carry on in the direction of Wadebridge, passing through the hamlet of Helstone, after which the road widens to three lanes.

The sign for Trewalder is on the right, just before the bottom of the hill. Turn right, leaving the A39 and follow the lane, passing through Treforda, and then Bodulgate (large dairy farm), and on into Trewalder.

Rooky's Nook entrance (shared with Bell Cottage) is on the right, directly opposite Trewalder House (large farm house with tarmac entrance). Pull inside the gate and park beside Rooky's Nook.
