Location
The Manor is ideally placed at the foot of the Talyfan mountain, surrounded by the forests, rivers, mountains and lakes of the Snowdonia National Park.
If you like to walk this is the place for you, from the Manor you can walk to the summit of the Talyfan mountain at an easy pace in 2 hours.
The views are stunning, you will almost certainly see wild Welsh mountain ponies and in the spring new born foals. The higher mountains (over 3000 ft ) are a bit further down the valley.
The Gwydir forrest is a fantastic place to explore on foot with marked routes dedicated to walkers. We are within easy reach of the major tourist attractions and just 5 minutes drive to the sandy beaches of the Conwy coast.
Close to the town of Conwy we get some of the best weather, less than half the rainfall of the area around Snowdon.

In the court yards of Gwern Borter stand a selection of quaint, traditional stone built cottage terraces.
Originally farm buildings, lovingly converted into eight cottages with laundry, gymnasium, sauna, rustic play area, games room, cycle hire and riding stables. All are fully equipped to the highest standard as befits the upper end of four star cottage accommodation.
Furnishings are in traditional cottage style, with all mod cons all come with Sky TV, Videos and CD systems. Cottages come complete with their own patio area and rustic furniture, barbecues are also available free of charge. Bed linen and all energy costs are included in the tariff. All you need is your own towels. Gwern Borter Country Manor is truly is a place to stay in all seasons.
Gamekeepers Cottage sleeps 6 people in two doubles and one twin. The bedrooms are all upstairs with the bathroom downstairs. It has a comfortable lounge providing suitable space for a family to make use of the TV, video and CD system. Video tapes can be hired at reception.
Gamekeepers Cottage is suitable for families, where parents can forget supervising the kids, who will be very happy playing in the safe play area (directly outside the cottage) with their new found friends on the FREE bikes and skateboards provided! The back door (off the kitchen) of Gamekeepers also opens out on to the lovely herb garden which is always awash with splendid colour.
Outside the front door you will also find rustic furniture and FREE barbeques to enjoy the splendour of our beautiful summer evenings.
In the quieter periods, outside school holidays, Gamekeepers Cottage becomes a quiet and tranquil retreat for those looking to simply relax and while away the hours.

Facilities at Gwern Borter Country Manor
Gwern Borter is surrounded by the forests, rivers, mountains and lakes of Snowdonia. It lies at the foot of the Talyfan mountain between the award winning village of Rowen (1 mile) and the medieval walled town of Conwy (3 miles) with it's magnificent Edwardian castle, picturesque harbour and sandy beaches. Our facilities include horse riding (beginners to expert), gymnasium and sauna, games room, children's' play area and pets' corner and our pond with ducks and geese plus a variety of day to day activities.
We are also within reach of the many attractions of beautiful North Wales. Historic castles and beautiful stately homes, slate and copper mines, golfcourses, fishing, boat trips, walking, climbing and mountaineering, Celtic hill forts, druid circles, druid burial chambers will be found on local mountain walks from the Manor. Buzzards fly over head and Welsh mountain ponies wander freely only a mile from the Manor.
There are some great local resteraunts within 5 or 10 minutes drive and a couple about 1 mile away. This information is in your information brochure in you cottage or bedroom.
Directions
From the A55 expressway from either Bangor or Chester, take the B5106 from Conwy and travel for three miles.at t the Groes Public House, turn right towards Rowen. After ½ mile, turn right. After 100 metres keep to the left and Gwern Borter Country Manor can be found on the left hand side.

We accept well behaved quiet pets only, they cannot be left in alone in a cottage, allowed off the lead in public areas, allowed in the ornamental garden, they are not allowed on the furniture, and must sleep on their own bedding.
