We mean different things to different people. For families, our playpark and child-friendly ducks and chickens are great for youngsters. Whilst those in their twilight years appreciate our senior citizen discount and level access!

For our regular winter divers The Barn (our country pub on site) is a huge attraction.

For spring fishermen our hill loch's challenging brown trout lead to many fishy tales over a pint.

For walkers and pet owners we've endless waymarked forest trails over the hills and plenty of facilities to dry out afterwards!

For Honeymooners and couples seeking the perfect get-away location, Cruachan's stunning views provide wonderful lifelong memories.

And for larger families Cologin Farmhouse with five bedrooms provides beds for up to 14 people in comfort.

Location

Cologin has been welcoming customers to the West Highlands of Scotland for many years and we enjoy an enormous number of repeat bookings and not just for Hogmanay. It's hard to quantify the appeal of Cologin. We've hosted clan gatherings, TV and film production units, student dive groups, honeymoon couples, pensioners, walkers, skiers, fishing parties, Hash House Harriers, overseas visitors from around the globe, weddings, anniversaries, family get-togethers and of course holidaymakers simply enjoying a week of peace and relaxation with all the freedom that only a self catering holiday can bring.

Owner's Description

With 14 lodges, 4 chalets, Cruachan Cottage and Cologin Farmhouse we have plenty of different accommodation options to choose from including pet free, pet friendly and disabled access.

From Spring 2006 all our properties became non-smoking to comply with the new Scottish legislation. All our properties have efficient heating in every room and the hot water and fridge will be on for your arrival.

Your beds will be made up and if you have booked to use the sofa bed/s we will leave extra linen as required. Our accommodation is graded 3 and 4 star ('very good' and 'excellent') by VisitScotland and conforms to all the required fire safety regulations.

Towels are provided as standard in Cruachan and Cologin Farmhouse and can be hired for all other properties. For your convenience, all Cologin properties are furnished with:

* Paper goods (loo roll, kitchen roll), J-cloth and bin bags.
* Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets if appropriate.
* Oven gloves, T-towels and bathmat.
* Iron, ironing board, hoover.
* Torch, spare lightbulb and candles.
* Freeview Satellite TV with 200+ TV and Digital Radio stations.

ACCOMMODATION:

Outer Hebridean chalets: (1/3 people - one bedroom - pet free and pets welcome)

* One bedroom (double or twin beds)
* Ensuite shower room
* Open plan lounge with fixed bench sofa, armchair and small dining table
* No additional cost for the occasional extra guest in the living room
* Kitchenette (full size oven and microwave, fridge with freezer compartment)
* Fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, duvets and pillows for up to 3 people.

Inner Hebridean lodges: (2/6 people - two bedrooms - pet free and pets welcome)

* Two large bedrooms, one double and one twin
* Large open plan lounge with either a double sofa bed in the lounge or two fixed single sofa beds and two armchairs
* No additional cost for extra guests in the living area. (Please request on booking).
* Family bathroom with shower over bath
* Separate hallway with storage cupboards
* Stable doors - let the sunshine and fresh air in but don't let the dogs and children out! (Please request on booking)
* Fully fitted kitchen with full size oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and large dining area to seat up to 6 (except for No. 5)
* Fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, duvets and pillows for up to 6 people (except for No 5 - two bedrooms only - equipped for 4 only)


Cruachan: (1/3 people - one king bedroom - pets welcome)

* One large bedroom with kingsize double bed
South facing lounge with armchairs, coffee table and woodburning stove
* Elevated position giving the best views in Cologin!
* Dining area with table and chairs

* Patio doors to south facing private garden with outside table and chairs
* Large bathroom with separate shower cubicle
* Fully fitted kitchen with oven and extractor, breakfast bar and fridge freezer

Cologin Farmhouse: (10/14 people - five bedrooms - pets welcome)

* One king double bedroom with ensuite, one triple bedroom (double and single bed), one family bedroom (king double - can be split and bunk beds), one triple bedroom (ground floor with one king and one single) with ensuite, one double bedroom
* South facing lounge with open fire and lovely views, LCD surround sound TV and stereo system
* South facing dining room with open fire and French doors to patio and BBQ
* Farmhouse kitchen with traditional Esse, gas hob, electric oven, American style fridge freezer with water filer and ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, tumble dryer and kitchen table
* Broadband Wi-fi access and telephone
* Cloakroom
* Two family bathrooms and one ensuite
* Fenced garden and parking for up to 3 cars
* Full central heating
* Cots and high chairs are also provided (if booked) free of charge, but can only be accommodated in our two bedroom lodges, Cruachan Cottage and Cologin Farmhouse.

Barbeques are available on request (provide your own charcoal) in the lodges and chalets and if you finish your holiday reading feel free to swap it for another book from our collection.

The laundrette has both washing machines and dryers (operated by pound coins) and in addition there are extra facilities for divers, cyclists and walkers, including dehumidifiers, under-cover storage areas and cold water wash for boats, etc.

Things You Need To Know

Pets are welcome in most lodges on payment of an additional charge per animal. We do not allow more than two pets in the Inner Hebridean lodge, Cruachan or Cologin Farmhouse or one pet per Outer Hebridean chalet. There is no charge for guide dogs. Bring your pet basket and pooper scooper with you and please keep pets off bedding or other soft furnishings.
Only well-behaved pets should be left unattended in the lodge and then only for short periods of time. Any damage caused by pets will be charged for.
When exercising your pet on the park it must be on a lead. Please clean up any fouling without delay; special bins are provided throughout the park. We have 17,000 acres of forest walks where your pet can walk off the lead.
In the interest of visitors' safety, and following recent government legislation, we are sorry we are unable to accept the following types of dog; American Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Fuila Brasileiro and Dogo Argentino even where these types of dog are muzzled as required by government legislation. Any other type of pet which could present a danger or alarm to other visitors is also excluded.

Working up an Appetite Highland Style

Fishing for wild brown trout is free for Cologin guests from our own boat on Loch Gleann a'Bhearraidh! This lovely loch is just under one mile's gentle walk up through the forest in the hills above Cologin and the views are quite spectacular. The walk to the loch is just one of many waymarked trails through our hills and the gentle incline means that it is suitable for all ages and abilities.

- Walking in our hills is a great excuse for working up a thirst. Not that you need an excuse to enjoy everything that the Barn, our very own country inn, has to offer.

- Our boat on the loch can also be booked just for fun and is freely available (with buoyancy aids) to Cologin guests. Pack a picnic and enjoy messing about on the water!

- There's plenty more to do in the area and a host of other outdoor activities including walking, riding, cycling and that great Scottish game - golf.
