"Stable Cottage has been converted from the stonebuilt farm steading which is adjacent to the farmhouse and 150 metres from the shore. It is a great house for families with a bath as well as a shower."

You can see seals, deer, buzzards and herons. The observant or lucky visitor will also see otters, osprey and red squirrels. We are very close to the Knapdale beaver re-introduction project.

Home baking to welcome you on arrival. Bread, cakes, scones and jams sometimes available to buy.

The cottages have traditional charm combined with all mod cons including free w-fi.

Location

Seafield Farm Cottages are located half a mile from the village of Achnamara at the head of Loch Sween.

We are nine miles from Lochgilphead, 15 minutes by car.

Lochgilphead has Banks, a Co-op Supermarket, Tesco Express, Filling Stations, Hotels and Cafes and many small shops supplying a wide range of goods, foods and crafts, many of them locally produced.

There are regular farmers markets where you can buy the best of local produce.
We are close to the Crinan Canal and to Kilmartin Glen which is reknowned for it's ancient archaeological sites. Nearby Tayvallich has a pub and coffee shop.

Owner's Description

The cottage is attached to the farmhouse in a beautiful setting at the head of Loch Sween.
The roomy accommodation on two floors combines traditional furnishings with excellent modern facilities and everything you need for a self catering holiday.

The ground floor has an entrance hall, bathroom, lounge diner and kitchen and is designed to be attractive, functional and family friendly. There is no enclosed garden but there are grassy areas for sitting and playing and 50 acres of land to explore.

The Kitchen
Fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge.


The Bathroom
On the ground floor, the bathroom has a shower, wc, wash basin, shaver socket and heated towel rail.
The Stable also has a bath with lashings of hot water from the log fired boiler.


The Bedrooms
Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin with a cot.
The bedrooms have coombed ceilings and original beams.
All bedding (duvets), bedlinen and towels are provided.


Heating
The cottage is fully double glazed and well insulated.
The main central heating & hot water is by log fired boiler.
The boiler is in a separate building and you do not have to tend it.

Things You Need To Know

Wireless Broadband Connection You can now access the internet from Byre or Stable Cottages if you have a wireless enabled laptop. Coverage is patchy due to our thick stone walls but it is possible.

The cottages have upstairs bedrooms - the bathroom is on the ground floor. There is a bed settee downstairs.

The mobile signal at Seafield is weak. Only Vodaphone has any coverage at all. Other networks work in Lochgilphead. The cottage has a payphone.

How to get to Seafield Farm From Lochgilphead take the A816 Oban Road to Cairnbaan (two miles). Take the B841 at Cairnbaan following signs for Tayvallich and Crinan. Continue for 2 miles to Bellanoch and then take the next left, the B8025 signposted Tayvallich and Achnamara. Follow this road taking the next left signposted Achnamara 3 miles. Follow this single track road for 21/2 miles. Seafield Farm is on the right hand side of the road.

We aim to run Seafield Farm Cottages in an environmentally friendly manner, encouraging recycling, composting and non-wasteful use of power and water while maintaining high levels of service and facilities. As well as the log fired boiler, we have photo voltaic panels to generate some of our electricity.
