Location

Argyll and Bute is arguably Scotland's most scenic county with excellent road and rail links to the rest of the country. Garemount Lodge is an ideal base for exploring - we're on the Clyde Sea Lochs Trail, a mile from the village of Rhu (friendly pub, 2 hotels, post office and shop).

Helensburgh. four miles away, has two railway stations (south to Glasgow, north on the picturesque West Highland Line), and boasts many independent shops selling a wide variety of goods. There's Charles Rennie Mackintosh's masterpiece The Hill House, restaurants, golf, tennis, bowling, putting, a swimming pool, fitness centre, and a variety of pleasant walks. The Waverley, Britain's last ocean-going paddle-steamer, sails from Helensburgh to the Kyles of Bute during the summer.

The Loch Lomond National Park with its visitor centre, shops, Sea Life Centre, and tourism attractions is nearby.

Glasgow, one of Europe's top-destination cities, is 25 miles away. It's a great city for retail therapy, plus there are museums, art galleries, restaurants, theatres, and great Victorian architecture. Glasgow Airport is 20 miles away whilst Edinburgh is an hour and three-quarters drive/train.

Less than an hour away, are the Trossachs (Rob Roy country), Stirling Castle, the William Wallace Monument, Blair Drummond Wild-Life Park, and Inveraray Castle (home of the Duke of Argyll).

Garemount Lodge is a two-storey cottage adjoining an attractive lochside home, in a large garden, with excellent views.

A private entrance hall leads to a large open-plan kitchen/living-room with loch views. The fully-fitted kitchen includes oven, hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washer/dryer.

The living area has a maple dining table and chairs, double sofa bed, easy-chair, and a feature-fireplace. Also: TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, radio/CD-player, books, toys, plus lots of tourist information.

Upstairs, the double-bedded room, furnished with an antique suite, has hairdryer, TV, clock/radio, plus panoramic Gareloch views. The adjoining bathroom has an over-bath shower, constant hot water, towels, and a selection of toiletries.

Cot or futon available. We provide bedlinen, towels, gas central-heating and electricity. There are fresh flowers and a tea-tray with home-made cake to welcome you.

Outside there's a small patio, garden furniture and off-road parking.

Things You Need To Know

We welcome well-behaved dogs (sorry, one only, with own bed) which must not be left alone in the accommodation at any time. There are lots of good places for dog-walking in this area.

Directions

Directions to Garemount Lodge: If travelling from Helensburgh, take the A814 towards Garelochead for four miles, passing through the village of Rhu.
In Shandon, one and a half miles beyond Rhu, turn right at the "Ardchapel" sign (it's the one shortly after the turnoff for "Stuckenduff/Queenspoint"). Turn immediately left onto a slip road. Garemount Lodge is the second entrance on the right and the first house up the drive.
